How to make an email subject line attractive & boost your open rates

Creating e-mail subject lines that will make a reader take notice is a top priority when it comes to meeting your marketing objectives. There are certain do’s and don’ts when it comes to subject lines that should always be followed if you want to create quality content that people are happy to read.

Make it brief. When composing subject lines, conciseness is your friend. They should be short, but they should also clearly show the e-mail’s value. Since more and more people open e-mails on mobile devices, they should be intrigued enough by the subject line to want to read further.

Get to the point. People are busy – they want incoming information to be precise and understandable, and if they have to spend a lot of time trying to figure out what you mean, they will be unlikely to take an interest.

Keep it relevant. Being clever and unique will definitely score you kudos with your subscribers, but don’t go overboard – if your content doesn’t match the subject, your originality won’t mean much.

Personalise and conquer. Everyone likes to feel special – if a subscriber receives a personalized e-mail, they will automatically feel more trust towards your brand. It shows that you have done your research, and that you are interested in your consumer’s wants and needs.

Avoid spammy tactics. According to statistics, a person receives, on average, 20 spam e-mails a day, and consumers have become very adept filtering their mail. So, unless you want your to end up in your subscribers’ junk folder, don’t capitalize everything or use spam-triggering words.
